Sabine is a labor whisperer, she was initially my backup doula so the chance of her and I working together I thought was slim, but I had an incredibly fast labor and she was the closest to me, she didn’t hesitate to be by my side at midnight on a weekday.
We had never met prior to me going into labor but it was instant comfort when she arrived. She read my body ques though every contraction and offered laboring techniques that my husband could help with. I was comfortable outside in my backyard under the stars and she was all for it.
I was amazed by the “tools” she had in her back pocket; I mentioned being hot and before I knew it there she was offering a battery handheld fan and a paper fan. When we moved inside she hooked up a star projector to bring the ambiance of outside inside. During pushing she held my hand, kept me cool with a cold washcloth & softly gave me encouraging affirmations.
I can’t thank my primary doula enough for picking such a rockstar backup for me. If you’re local to Valpo/ NWI look no future Sabine is the one you want by your side!

I only wish we’d had more time to work with Sabine because she was so incredible! We decided to work with a doula super late in our pregnancy but Sabine jumped right in to educate us as much as possible providing exercises to prepare for birth, mentally and physically. She was incredibly supportive and gave us a lot to think about to ensure we had a positive birthing experience. During birth, she was hands on and motivational for both myself and my partner. Sabine was just the perfect person for us for this experience becoming new parents. I strongly recommend anyone looking for a doula to work with her! – Rachel

My partner and I had the best experience with Sabine as our Doula. She made us comfortable with the birthing process in preparing for everything to come as we expected our first child. She even provided some aftercare in the form of a great meal and dessert to ease the post partum process at home. She was knowledgeable and during the birthing process focused wholly on the needs of my partner and I. It was a great resource with being new to the area and not having our village with us. She not only provided positive affirmations but she also provided us with pragmatic exercises and movements to ease the process. She was also a fierce advocate for our birthing plan with the hospital staff. I would make the decision over and over to hire Sabine as our Doula. She helped us navigate this birthing world seamlessly! – Rob

SABINE IS AMAZING! My husband and I could not imagine going through pregnancy, labor, and birth without her at our side. She is incredibly knowledgeable about all aspects of the continuum of pregnancy and we continuously say, “ We could NOT have done this without her”. This was our first child and Sabine really met us where we were at in our journey. She helped us to develop a birth plan and understand situations that could arise where our goals may not be met. As luck would have it, my plan had to change due to complications! Even with the change of plans, she still knew when to advocate for other parts of our plan to be followed and respected. Whether you want a natural birth or choose to have interventions for pain management she supports what YOU want and provides research to ensure you feel comfortable with your choices. Sabine is very well researched in evidence-based birth.
Sabine was at the hospital at the exact time we needed her and had so many tools in her bag (literally and figuratively) to provide as much comfort as possible during the labor process. She kept things moving and tried all kinds of positions that helped the labor continue to progress. Just when I felt like I couldn’t handle anymore she was there to provide encouragement to cope with the contractions. She knew what was happening and called the nursing staff right when they needed to be there. It’s a testament to Sabine’s quality of care that every doctor and nurse that we met in the hospital knew her by name and felt comfortable with her in the room.
She provided invaluable resources to us from her library so we could read and review content that was specific to our goals. We were able to educate ourselves and she was right there to follow up and review any questions we still had. Not only was she there for us during pregnancy and labor but was checking in and continued to support us in a particularly challenging and scary postpartum season. We are so blessed to have found her and would highly recommend Indigo Doula Services.

I had the most beautiful, empowering, peaceful birth experience. Sabine was beyond amazing. I could write a literal novel on what a gift she is. My husband and I met with several doulas and just hadn’t found the one. I’m very sensitive to people’s vibes and I needed someone who was nothing but genuine, empathetic, sensitive and that’s Sabine. I knew within 5 mins of meeting her that we’d found our doula. She is kind, soft, strong, and intuitive. She jumped in the moment she sensed we needed her. There was a lot happening post delivery and I just couldn’t focus enough to get food ordered and she just jumped in and did it. Brought me my blanket. Made sure things were communicated. Everything she did enabled my husband to be fully present for me and our baby. She knows her craft well too. Some of the tools she had available and skills she had learned helped me ride the waves during our birthing time and there wasn’t one moment where I wasn’t SURE and empowered that I’d bring our baby earthside. If I had it to do over, I’d have had her at all four of our babies births. Do not hesitate any longer, CALL HER. I guarantee you’ll be glad you did 💛 images by Ashley Spencer Photography.

Sabine is absolutely incredible! We can’t imagine going through labor without her and we’re so grateful that she helped me through the delivery of my baby girl! I can’t recommend her enough! Sabine is so knowledgeable and constantly educated me and gave me resources to further read on the subjects I inquired about. I hope to have her in my next baby’s birth! Everyone at the hospital complimented Sabine on her work, including the physician. I am so thankful for her calming presence and guidance in such a chaotic (and beautiful) time! I am forever grateful for my baby’s birth story!

Everyone should hire a doula to help them through the pregnancy and birthing process! People mostly assumed that we were planning some kind of extreme natural birth when we mentioned we were working with a doula (our plan was a hospital all the way but I was open to trying to get through without an epidural), but really we just wanted someone who was knowledgeable and comforting to be there for us when things got crazy, which it certainly did. We found Sabine through the DONA website because we wanted someone who was certified, and after meeting with her, knew she would be an amazing partner on that journey. It also helped that when we told our Dr who our doula was, she was very positive about our choice so we knew (and later witnessed) that Sabine would be able to work well with our medical team. Unfortunately, my water broke first (which is actually pretty uncommon despite tv shows and movies depicting that as the start of labor) while the rest of my body was pretty unprepared for labor. Long story short, this started a 54 hr labor and delivery process which included being induced and a slew of medical interventions. It was disappointing to have our labor preferences thrown out the window pretty much immediately, but Sabine was there for us every step of the way. She made sure we had everything we needed, created a calming environment, and had all sorts of tools/techniques to use to help with progressing labor/distracting from pain. It also helps that she is just incredibly kind and fun to talk to so having her around always made me feel better. Sabine coached me through THREE hours of pushing including trying out different positions to see what felt right, and without her (and eventually the help of the vacuum 😅), I know we would have been pressured into a c-section. We’re so grateful to now have Sabine in our lives and look forward to working with her again if/when there’s another baby on the way!

Sabine was my doula for the birth of my 9th child. Even though I have had 8 previous deliveries I still had fears of the horrible pain of transition. Sabine supported me the weeks leading up to my birth by encouraging me to look over my affirmations, checking in on me, and meeting with me to talk about my vision for my birth. During labor she also talked me through my fears which helped me to stay calm. Her knowledge about birth and ways to cope made me feel relaxed. Having her present just to help and support me even during the early stages of labor, was invaluable. She even took pictures for me after my baby was born. It was by far one of the best birth experiences I have ever had!

Sabine was my doula for my 8/25 induced delivery. I was induced due to having preeclampsia after having been in the hospital for 2 weeks. I was feeling pretty out of control going into delivery (nothing had gone like I planned the weeks leading up to it and I didn’t want to be induced but it was medically necessary) I desperately wanted to have a natural delivery but knew it would be hard with being induced. Sabine showed up when I was induced and we talked and walked, and walked, and walked. She had me rolling on the ball, sitting in the tub, resting on the peanut ball. In the end I decided I wanted an epidural but having Sabine by my side coaching me made me feel comfortable with it because I knew I had given it my all. Looking back I’m very proud of and happy with my labor and delivery. I’m so blessed that Sabine was there with me every step of the way. I can’t imagine my delivery going any differently or any better than it did. I credit Sabine for that. I highly highly recommend her!!!

I heard about doulas for the first time during my third trimester. We asked to get doula service during the delivery of our first baby. I had an induced labor and it took a long time for the baby to be born. We were so lucky to have Sabine as our doula. She was very supportive and encouraging during the entire process. She was right next to me, holding my hand and telling me “I can do this”! I couldn’t imagine doing this without her in the delivery room. She is AMAZING!
